    Saturday, February 9, 2019 | Phil Zegarek

Yamaha won an iF Design Award 2019 for its concept motorcycle called the MOTOROiD. The iF Design Awards are awarded to excellent designs selected by top designers in the industry. The MOTOROiD’s blend of unique technology, innovative ideas, and superb execution is what qualified it for the honor.

The MOTOROiD has won similar awards in the past. According to Yamaha, the bike has won an International Design Excellence Award and Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2018. With the iF Design Award, it would seem the high-end design crowd is pretty pleased with this thing. To be honest, it is impressive, but that doesn’t mean it’s not weird as hell.

  • Is this our Motorcycle Future?

    Thursday, February 7, 2019 | Sales

The Embrio concept is just one of many controversial and strange products to come out of Bombadier. Not only does the bike sport one lonely wheel but it also uses gyroscopic technology to balance itself and the rider.

However, although it might sound fancy the bike itself is nothing special with the concept actually rather ridiculous. Bombadier claims that by 2025, the Embrio will be the most common form of transport, with two-wheeled mean machines a thing of the past. One can only hope that Bomadier has this one wrong, with unicycles hopefully left in the circus where they belong.

  • MOTORCYCLE INSURANCE CLAIMS

    Wednesday, February 6, 2019 | Service

As an authorized dealership for Indian Motorcycle, Suzuki Motorcycles, and Yamaha Motorcycles we see a good number of insurance claims come through our shop. All insurance companies require a damge estimate for the repair. We always give both you and the insurance company an estimate including original OEM parts as the motorcycle was manufactured. Our job is to restore the motorcycle to the same condition it was before the claim. Many repair shops will use inferior after market parts or accessories. BUYER BEWARE!

It is important to know that not all insurance companies handle claims the same way. Our experience is that some motorcycle insurance companies really want to help their clients and others don't.  In many cases it has nothing to do with the premium you paid and just how the claims are handled.

We would be more than happy to relay our experiences. Stop in to discuss!

  • KEEP YOUR MOTORCYCLE BATTERY CHARGED

    Wednesday, February 6, 2019 | Service

The most frequent service department consumer issue is that their motorcycle battery went dead. In most cases the motorcycle is not ridden enough to maintain a good charge on the battery. Starting your motorcycle and running it for 5 to 10 minutes weekly will not add a sufficient charge to the battery and it will go dead. An easy way to prevent this is to maintain the battery with a maintainence charger. Yuasa and Battery Tender chargers are the most popular and they allow for quick connect so it is very easy to use. All Indian motorcycles have the quick connect installed on their motorcycles.

Leave the chrger on your motorcycle whenever you are not riding. These chargers will not over charge you battery.

Our service department can install the quickconnect on any motorcycle.

  • Worlds Fastest Motorcycle powered by Suzuki Hayabusa Engines

    Thursday, January 31, 2019 | Fasted MC

More than 50 years after the first modern, fully streamlined motorcycle was designed and concepted, Rocky Robinson of the USA broke the record for the fastest land speed on a motorcycle. Riding his Top Oil-Ack Attack on 25 September 2010, Robinson achieved an average speed of 605.697 km/h (376.363 mi/h) over one measured kilometer (0.6 miles) at Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah, USA.

The Ack Attack contains a carbon-fiber paneled body with chrome-moly tubing. It purrs on the strength of twin Suzuki Hayabusa in-line four-cylinder engines, with a 30 psi turbocharger boost. The maximum engine speed tops out at 12,000 rpm with an incredible net horsepower of between 700-900.

  • What is a Motorcycle according to Wikipedia for Kids.

    Wednesday, January 30, 2019 | Sales Dept

motorcycle (or motorbike) is a vehicle used to transport people from one place to another. It does not have 4 wheels like a car. It has 2 wheels like a bicycle. But it has a motor like a car. A motorcycle is normally driven by one person. A passenger can also ride on the back of the motorcycle. Some motorcycles have a sidecar that can carry another passenger.

In 1901, the first successful motorcycle was made by "Indian" motorcycles in Springfield, Massachusetts. Since then, many other companies have made them. There are different manufacturers of motorcycle, like HondaSuzukiYamaha. A well known American manufacturer of motorcycles is Harley-Davidson.

Enduro motorcycle BMW F 650 GS Dakar (2004)

Since motorcycles can be lighter than cars, they can accelerate more quickly. But it also makes them not as safe as cars, because they do not have a protecting chassis around them like cars. Very often motorcycle-riders are injured heavily in accidents. A motorcycle rider can wear a helmet and clothing that has armor. This special clothing may reduce the rider's injuries in an accident. Motorcycles also do not protect the rider against wind and rain. That makes it difficult to drive in winter or at bad weather.

In poor countries, motorcycles are used by many as a cheap method of transportation. Many people who do not have the money to buy a car, can afford a small motorcycle. In rich countries, large powerful motorcycles are used more as a hobby or sport.

On-road bikes (ones that are allowed on public roads) require the rider to have a special type of driver's license to be ridden legally. Off-road bikes are not allowed to be driven on public roads.

Speed and stunts are the main goals for off-road bike sports. Many on-road bikes are much faster than off-road bikes and can be used in sports such as motorbike racing.

10 times world champion, Stefan Everts

Motocross is a form of motorcycle racing. It is on an off-road circuit. The sport came from motorcycle trialscompetitions held in the United Kingdom.[1][2] Motocross is a physically demanding sport. It is held in all weather conditions.

There are many competitive events in motocross.

  • Suzuki Turbo Motorcycle Rumors

    Wednesday, January 30, 2019 | Sales

Well, in terms of specification, everything seems fine – apart from the bigger engine. With a turbo’d 700 150 hp sounds about right, pitching it in the same ball park as an unfaired liter bike, but with the nimble handling and an increased fun factor, which would be exactly what Suzuki were aiming for. Even so, can we trust this? While the answer is probably “yes” – because we know something is coming – we can’t help but wonder why Suzuki would pass around a memo with incorrect model names on it? It’s not really nit-picking to call out that the models above the Suzuki GSX-700T are written as “GSXR-“ rather than the official “GSX-R” because…this is meant to be an official work related document. We could be looking at a good hoax…but we’re really hoping that it’s true.

IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 23, 2019 If you’ve noticed more motorcycles tucked inside garages across the country, or parked out front, you’re not imagining things. Eight percent of U.S. households had at least one bike in 2018, the most ever recorded in decades of polling by the Motorcycle Industry Council.

Motorcycle households rose from 6.94 percent in 2014 (the last full survey) to a record 8.02 percent in 2018, an increase of more than 1.5 million homes. • SUZUKI KATANA IS BACK!

    Tuesday, January 15, 2019 | Kenny & Luis

Suzuki Unveils 2020 KATANA: Speed and Comfort

Suzuki’s legendary KATANA returns for the 2020 model year as a comfortable, sporty all-arounder with a hint of the edgy styling found on earlier models. Suzuki released preliminary details of the bike, but availability in the U.S. market will not be announced until next year, and labeling it a 2020 model means we will be waiting a bit before we can test one.

We can tell you that this will be a very fast motorcycle with a revised version of the long-stroke four-cylinder 998cc engine found in the GSX-S1000F we previously tested. Expect something north of 130 horsepower with gobs of low-end and mid-range torque. Much more street motor than most will ever need, or want.

Although detailed specifications are not yet available, this is much more than a prototype. Suzuki has released detailed images of the frame and engine components, for example. There is a dedicated web site, and here on MD you will find several high resolution images.

Here is a brief announcement from Suzuki on the new KATANA:

    The Suzuki KATANA
This is not a retro-styling exercise but a modern performance motorcycle that is destined to be as revolutionary as the original KATANA. Of course, its name comes from the sleek and beautifully crafted Japanese sword known as a katana.  Inspired by the same artisan spirit demonstrated by Japanese swordsmiths, Suzuki’s development team tested and tuned each component until they were satisfied the KATANA would deliver the optimal balance of power, comfort and control. At the heart of the KATANA’s performance is a new version of the championship winning long-stroke GSX-R1000 engine. Heading out on the road, riders will immediately appreciate the KATANA’s agility and rider-friendly nature. Maneuvering its compact, lightweight chassis around bends instills confidence and brings pure pleasure. The seat and optimized riding position are designed to enhance controllability and keep riders comfortable on longer outings so they will want to ride the KATANA all day long. With the 2020 KATANA, Suzuki repeats and rewrites history at the same time.

    ADVANCED LOOK- 2020 KATANA

    • The distinctive design of the legendary KATANA exists in a totally modern motorcycle.
    • 999cc engine offers excellent low- to-mid range torque with good peak horsepower.
    • A variety of advanced electronics include traction control, Easy Start and Low RPM Assist.
    • Twin-spar aluminum frame, braced superbike-style swingarm, KYB-supplied suspension, dual front Brembo Monobloc four-piston brake calipers with 310mm floating rotors.
    • Unique satellite rear fender extends from the swingarm creating a taut-looking tail design.
    • New style, full LCD instrument panel is unique to the KATANA.
    • Metallic Mystic Silver paint with KATANA lettering and logos that mirror the original 1981 model.

    MSRP: TBA
Estimated arrival at U. S. dealers: TBA 2019

  • INTERESTING SUZUKI HAYABUSA FACTS

    Thursday, January 10, 2019 | Phil Zegarek

The Hayabusa name that Suzuki uses on one of its most famous motorcycles has two representations. It’s a Peregrine falcon as well as a Japanese Kamikaze fighter plane. More specifically, the Hayabusa represents the Nakajima Ki-43, which is also referred to as the Zero. The Hayabusa is famous for being one of the world’s fastest two-wheelers. The maximum speed on a standard Hayabusa is an impressive 300 km/h or 186mph. That makes sense considering that the manufacturer had a fighter jet as its inspiration for the fast motorcycle.

The Hayabusa is probably in it's last year of production. Rumors are that a brand new replacement will be on the way in 2020.
